Well stated your evidently in the know. I just wish others would state facts. He knew nothing about MPI.

What a BS. He was no saint ,he mooched the company as much as he could , including with his counterpart CB and boss. He setup himself to be EVP if things would have played out in right way. On his progression he threw many people under the bus.

The person while explaining all his great leadership skill failed to mention a single metric or any success of Apex project.

I wish him all the best but he was no savior but another player .

This post is directed for the person below me. I am not from Sidney Nebraska so I don't know who you're talking about. I am really sorry to hear about this gentleman and will be praying for him and his family. There are not too many people that are go above and beyond anymore. Unfortunately corporations are in it for the money. They don't want Millions anymore they want billions. And if you're not a good old boy or in the click you're out. I'm sure this gentleman will find a much better job. God has much better plans for him you can count on it. Hopefully not in retail everybody seems to be in survival mode. I never thought retail would be unhealthy and stressful. It's beyond ridiculous.

Maybe this forum can finally be used for something truly real.

This week was very sad for Cabelas and Sidney.

The one person we all had hope and faith in was released. I can’t stop crying when I think about it and I don’t cry.

When everyone else we called leadership left, he stayed. When no one would talk to us he did. When no one would represent what made Cabelas great he was our rock.

For the past several years all he has done is “fix” what others nearly destroyed. We watched him sacrifice much for us, including his job.

When we were grossly overspending as a company he came in org wide, a very unpopular job, and we all followed him. When asked why he accepted it he would say originally he didn’t want it. Then realized that if he didn’t do it, someone else would. And that person would have no regard for Sidney or Cabelas.

Very tough decisions were made and he had to lead folks through them. We have heard our CFO was to originally run the project, but no one would follow him so the Board of Directors picked this man instead.

After that he was asked to lead strategic alternatives, then if that were not enough he was asked to take on merchandise as that was the next area that needed attention.

What he has done with that area in less than a year is beyond amazing. Ask anyone in the building, anyone.

As our rock for Cabelas and Sidney he was there talking and coaching and pushing all of us. When others got down he would lift them up. He lifted all of us up.

The best leaders show up in chaotic times. When others would be unsure on BPS, he would not be. He was positive and hopeful of the future together.

In a recent meeting he said 20k Cabelas outfitters are right now counting on us to lead. We will do this! The room immediately pulled it together.

He would always say with a strong smile you hang in there. We can do this together.

He was the one leader we loved and would do anything for. When others left he just took on more and kept going. It was not just his style we embraced but he got financial results as well. We have been stronger in every single area under his leadership. Just wish he would have been in this role 3 years ago.

On his last day I made the longest walk of my life and went to hug him, as so many others did as well I have since learned. Not a word was spoken. We just hugged and cried.

The strongest man I know hugged me and cried with me. Then he said you hang in there, they have some great folks who will be fair. Never even then did I hear him say anything negative about BPS. Quite the opposite he was the only reason we all had some hope.

How could JM, BPS, let this genuinely honest, dedicated, 20 year veteran walk away?

I am so saddened and troubled by this. So many are saddened.

Everyone in Sidney knows who I’m talking about. The man we all knew by his extension as he refused to ever use his title.

Know that many will follow wherever you go. We are all hoping and praying your future and your family’s will be bright. We know you will be the rock, we all lost, for where ever your next chapter starts.

You will be missed so much.

"you are probably not currently working at HQ. With that, no need to disclose to you and the world what is happening here at BP and CAB."

Screw you! Who put you in charge here. Don;t you have some fresh asses to kiss, u sell out!

Evidently the truth upsets some. Wondering why you would think I’m not currently employed here. !!!!!!

Nope not accurate. Others are locating as well but since you don't have correct information, you are probably not currently working at HQ. With that, no need to disclose to you and the world what is happening here at BP and CAB.

My guess it’s true. I heard RC (former Cabela’s CFO) was/is the only Cabela’s employee that accepted a job with BP. Heard everyone else has turned down offers to move to Springfield/BP.
