Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

US Department of Labor Emplmoyment

What does this mean for those laid off unexpectedly? Just curious.

(WARN- law in place to provide advance notice to layoffs)

Not factual this is considered a mass lay off and proper procedures and guidelines were not followed contact your local offices. This is also not considered legal counsel if you signed your severance letter.

As for a layoff, the WARN notice applies only for a "mass layoff" at a company. If a company has to layoff 500 or more employees in a 30 day period it must WARN. Or if 50 - 499 employees are layed off only if the number constitutes at least 33% of the total workforce. New hires of six months or less and part time help don't count in the total number.

Not a whole lot. Read the details. To keep things secret, It is a small price to pay for BP/CAB if they didn't report the "WARN" notice to either state.
