Look the reason CAB went down in flames is because they took the company public. The family got rich but it wasn't enough so they kept selling until it was out of their control.

Store closures is still not off the table, to many overlap locations between CAB and BP.
There are a lot of successful public companies out there. The reason/reasons Cabela’s failed all started with poor leadership, vision and execution of plans. When Cabela’s went public they were quickly flush with cash. Then under poor management, they thought retail expansion was the golden egg. Once the cash ran dry and retail started to die, they were too far under to make things right. Buried in debt and no way out, selling the company or closing doors on under performing retail locations were the only choices. They decided too sell.
