Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

Hard to Figure

I can't figure out why the Dreamy Center would buy a group of schools with such a terrible reputation and continued terrible graduation and retention rates without changing their, at a minimum, respective names.

It's speakes to the Einsteinian definition of insanity: keep doing the same schtick expecting a better result when there is none.

Stealthus, obfuscatere et fraudulum

If you can't change the schools' names, for the love of God, don't change the motto.

It's been in place for over one hundred year as you know.

The owners make money on debt not education.

I have a few ideas on how new management can make the schools a success

  1. Lower tuition substantially. No one wants to be sentented to debt prison for casting pearls before swine.

  2. Since the target demographic consists of many high risk subsets of people, students should first be honestly evaluated for academic success and provided with remedial help prior to tapping into their loan money.

  3. Since none of this is presently being done due to potential large capital layout concerns, and the same jerks with zero empathy are still currently running the show, I won't hold my breath that any of the above things are in the cards.

That’s exactly what I’d expect to hear.

I think massive change will be coming...it makes perfect sense to purchase the accreditation and whatever is left of the infrastructure, linking these to your established base of services for the target demographic, and offer education post rescue/post rehab as a highway to societal reintegration. But into Interior Design or Animation??? Probably not. I'd expect these programs to sunset by fiat or organically and be replaced by more generalized programs; i.e. state workforce needs.
