I worked out of the Woodward field office. Production foreman. Never had a performance issue. Had more than one exceeds expectations, rest were meets. Never been in trouble, yet I was laid off so CC could bring in one of his “pets” from waynoka. I was sacrificed for a “pet”.
Irony is when CC came to Woodward Tuesday morning to lay us off several of his pets from waynoka came over to Woodward also. Here’s where it gets good.
The lay off naturally took place behind closed doors with CC, and an HR rep via telephone. Once they were finished reading from their papers, fielding any questions, I turned in my phone, computer, etc etc and walked out the door to leave the building (maybe a thirty foot walk). Before I reached the exit door one of CC pets from waynoka (CF) stepped up to me and apologized to me for getting laid off.
This immediately told me that him and probably all of CC’s other pets transferring new I was getting laid off before I knew i was getting laid off.
My question is, why did he know?
How long ahead of time did he know?
Did he learn that morning?
Did he learn of it at 8:30 Monday morning when they had the meeting in waynoka with the 20 people that CHK retained and is transferring from waynoka.
How come someone with my same job title from another field office knew about my layoff before my next level manager or my superintendent knew?
So this morning I filed a complaint with HR. Like I said, it probably won’t do any good though.
BTW, even though I live in NW Oklahoma I’ve already found another job doing the same work with a substantial increase in pay. So I’m not one to sit around and sulk. First thing I did was make it my job to get another job and I’ve landed on my feet with a fat savings account thanks to my experience, age, and the severance they gave.
I’m just putting this out there so everyone can see what transpired. Im hoping there is some substance to “heads rolling” if word got out prematurely.
