Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Things may not be as bad as we think!

Don't want to get hopes is but I did hear today from a good source in New York that it may not be as bad as we have heard due to the tax breaks. Hope this is the case.

Please remember, we are all very talented people who work much harder than people at most companies. PepsiCo employees are known for the hard work. Maybe bad for a little bit BUT we all will get scooped up and the company that does, will be so much better off having us on board.

Don't under estimate yourselves.

Unfortunately, PepsiCo’s struggles in growing the top line has meant heavy reliance on productivity to avoid disappointing stock analysts. Layoffs, bonus & benefit cuts, hiring freezes, deeper T&E cutbacks, and dense cube farms are all required to cover up for a failed growth strategy.

I partially agree and might disagree with the business structure comment. However, no decision in this company ever lasts 10 years. We're as shifty as the wind blows. Quaker-Mueller, anyone? Aspartame-free Diet Pepsi? PepsiNext? Kendall Jenner?

If management was structuring the business for 10 years out, they would have made these changes during the last major reorganization a few years ago.

There is zero chance yeh tax breaks have anything to do with this. It’s not happening because we are unprofitable, it’s happening because right, wrong, or indifferent we are not structured as senior management wants to face the next 10 years of business environment. We can disagree on their competence, but to be clear it’s not about this years financials.

Not to be a downer here, but I heard this was part one of a three year plan. Every year another reorg.
