Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Talent Drain

Walmart is a business that requires knowledgeable people. Period...

Until the ivory tower understand what we do and more important what our customers need we will never win.

Also, always remember, you cannot cut your way to profits. Long term the problem gets worse.

Your best people are gone and the rookies don't know what to do.

Its a real shame we don't get it.

The best (worst?) part is that a large number of people they cannot afford to lose are getting ready to retire, and there are no suitable replacements. Heck, half of the technology in ISD hasn't been taught in a college in over 30 years (or ever, for the homegrown stuff).

The same thing is going on in the hospitals. I'm a nurse and it is so scary what is going on throughout the whole country and various industries. Many criminal acts are being disguised as "business decisions". The people at the top are hollowing out our entire nation.

Wmt is continuing to grow its presence in India. Total headcount in India is up around 5k. Those jobs used to be in the US. Sad our tax dollars are funding huge tax cuts for companies like wmt.

As a supplier, I can agree 100% with this. Been calling in HQ for 10+ years and the most frustrating thing for all of us is to see really talented, dedicated people be replaced by young and inexperienced folks who think they know how to run the business, only to find out their brash decisions end up costing them millions. Keep good merchants in their jobs, reward them for growth and ability to keep this ship afloat, and don't try to reinvent the wheel with some 24-year-old MBA.
