Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Now what?

What’s terrible is when you have built a strong foundation with the company, move across the country, have additions to the family... Then a slap in the face.

Not knowing if you can provide or even have medical insurance.

All the time we put in and this is what we get back. And we continue to wait.....

What a nightmare, and now what?

The 8% reduction is not a Doug decision. He just has the unfortunate task of carrying out the board's decisions. Doug has worked his way from the bottom to the top and has earned his seat. He is still one of the most humble and considerate people in the executive ranks.

These decisions are voted on by the board. The board is led by Penner, whose (only) 20 year, less than impressive resume, is clearly chairmen only because he married into that position. He's never had to earn a promotion or get laid off. If you've never been laid off, you certainly can't be sympathetic.

Im not so sure that this is Doug doing. The 3rd generation Walton are also in charge. I have a feeling that they are the one's in charge of this. They wanted a bright shiny new office building, they bought all the homes and land rights for THEIR NEW OFFICE. They have not grown with the company like many of us have.

I have thirty years with the company and know how you feel. My prayers are with you. I will say this and it’s not meant to be negative but I thought more of Doug McMillon. But there are a ton of great paying jobs out there and companies want Walmart Managers.

This is why Bentonville isn't viable. A lot of the fear goes away when you have a large pool of employers to choose from when a job ends abruptly.
