Just want to make a master thread for any Property & Casualty layoff reports we want to make - I see multiple threads are popping out - let's try to keep everything at one place.

I’ve heard people saying “oh they can’t discriminate based on age. That’s against the law” RIGHT. AGE discrimination is almost impossible to prove in a court of law. You can be sure SF attorneys can that box checked.

I haven't met a single person who argues that State Farm didn't need to trim down. I've pointed out multiple times on this forum that Systems in particular needed to trim multiple layers of management and to consolidate roles that are far too specialized. This was all clear to me when I started 17 years ago.

It was common knowledge throughout Systems. Whenever you've got a project team meeting with 50 people in it, things have gotten out of hand.

The problem is that instead of beginning the trimming back then, when it could have been done with far less impact to the company, the inept executives came up with CDE, which grew systems to enormous levels while at the same time making it completely dysfunctional. They made it MORE EXPENSIVE and LESS EFFECTIVE.

Then, they panicked and decided to butcher Systems with an ax rather than a scalpel, throwing the baby out with the bath water.

The fools responsible for CDE are still running the show. No one in the trenches will respect leadership until those people are flushed out. Seriously, who can trust this reorganization with those people at the helm?

The State Farm the previous poster knew may have been benevolent. Yes, in fact I know they were, to the point of idiocy.

The new State Farm is anything but

And this re-org isn't the trimming we needed. It's a hack job.

I worked for State Farm for 25 years and left well before retirement age feeling it needed to trim down. It was tiring trying to make a difference; so unlike many that stay and complain..., I left. I was in a Claim Manager job. I sat in planning sessions years ago and was open about the need to more aggressively reorganize and reduce staff at my level and below. The company was resistant to expanding centralization and cost reduction 20 years ago; and an industry selling rather simple P it may seem harsh to be in an organization going through change. Actually State Farm is a benevolent company compared to most. If you are worth more..., leave. If you are clever enough to start a business and do better; do it. I watched employees complain for decades and while difficult at times for me; I am pleased I left. I have done better on my own terms. I hope many that feel uncomfortable find a better path or be thankful and contribute during a time of change.

Section Manager, claims manager and consultants impacted. They are offered voluntary severance in exchange for a non compete clause and extinguishing right to sue

@1ony I am still around and I am a happy person. I am very much interested in things happening here, hence my contribution on this site. If the mgmt was to change it's super-secretive ways and enlighten us with real info instead of kool-aid, I'd probably stop visiting layoffs.com daily...

God bless....

Being truthful is not disgruntled. I want to know what’s going on. Personally, I am hoping to get severance. I have another job offer so if I get severance it works perfect for me financially. Unlike most I am very mobile. Ready to just ship too as I do not see good coming down the pipe.

This forum is now populated by disgruntled State Farmers killing and eating their own.

Congrats.

It is not age discrimination if they offer voluntary severance to those over age 55. The key word is “voluntary”.

AssClownDetector/ You should research Age 55 Rule so you can be educated on the fact that people are retiring at 55. A magic age. Also, can’t be sued for age discrimination if they are offering severance with good reason to support it. 55 wasn’t pulled out of somebody’s *ss. SF has a excellent legal team that is consulting on the changes.

I guess we will see about your so called facts. Managers found out today and we all know analysts are next and we all know most developers are safe. Look at th e job postings, most are for developers.

The facts about systems are:

The managers will not be decided til Mid Feb.

There are too many BAs and they will be targeted for reduction. There is no plan being announced yet for reduction or what the conditions will be or dates. Sometime in March is the plan for that to be announced. Probably end of March.

None of this will apply to software developers.

Some of you here are clueless and frankly, not very bright. Talking about “Indian ladies” (sic) that are allegedly not very qualified? What do you base that on, racism and jealousy?

And no company can outwardly target employees over 55 for layoffs, else risk massive age discrimination lawsuits.

As we have additional layoffs, hope you guys are in the front of the line. Geez, no wonder we’re struggling to grow with mental lightweights like both of you on the payroll.

Lets be honest, some of these layoffs were necessary. SF is top heavy and needs to trim senior management. Im still not sure what SMs do, but I know if you come by on a Friday at 3:00, their offices are all empty.

If these are voluntary severance packages, do they come with quotas like the leadership packages in Systems?

Or is this just like an incentive to get people to leave with no strings attached?

Rumors have been swirling in the claim offices over the last two weeks. Here are some of the rumors:

  1. P&C claims employees (non-leadership) age 55 and over will be offered a buyout.

  2. P&C claims Employees (non-leadership) who have worked with the company for at least 15 years will be offered a buyout.

Can anyone provide verification or details about these rumors?

Last several years, due to very very lenient HR screening, lots of indian ladies could make it to statefarm in full time positions, though they are not fit for anything except speaking sweet English and pursuading managers to go up the rank. How come these ladies, vast majority of them, being on H4 dpendent visa for many years before getting EAD, all of a sudden joined SF as full timers in very good paying positions. Staged and fake experience, fake references ofclose friends, fake pay stubs. Did anyone bother to verify their W2 forma for the experience they claimed in their resume . First do that and u s e how many hundred and of these ladies will be shown the door. Isn’t it a serious violation of code of conduct. Everyone knows that interview is a mere set of 10 subjective questions that anyone can answer. Those are were fired as externals also joined SF in full time. Who will do the probe into these folks who even became managers and Test managers at SF full time. Are these people not denting the chances of really qualified and experienced folks who had to go thru severance process. I feel very pity for these victims because of the lousy and lenient HR 3rd party screening. Let SF call IRS and obtain W2 forms for the fake experience that all these ladies claimed . Thes excesses piled up, numbers increased in payroll but no addition to productivity . That’s one of the main reasons for the so called sorry state today. I am not kidding when I post this . Very serious and true. I tried reporting this to external staffing a fee years ago but no one seemed bothered about this as there is no ownership.
