Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Will there be another layoff this week??

I’m hearing there will be another layoff this week?? I wish this company would drop the axe once and for all and be done.. they get rid of the good and keep the lying mgrs who do nothing but shift job responsibilities, slid under different depts just to really save themselves!

BST and NT’s won’t be spared this time. They cut many groups last fall and cut them again this time. They just offered a package to those techs, they should be announced soon.

We were told our group would not be touched because it was already so small. Guess what? They lied.

I have heard one of the Presidents State that the company is heavy with BST and NT positions. One poster is correct about the process for laying off union folks, but that does not apply to non-bargaining techs.

Are there a bunch of nonunion areas? As it applies to NT and BST

Most areas I know of are stretched very thin for NT positions. Most guys are covering 3 hr+ On call and spend lots of time driving in the middle of the night on callouts.

There are not too many BST and NT techs - in fact everyone is razor thin and can’t handle the work they have. There are other places that should be cut. Let’s start with some local managers.

Remember if they are in union area it will have to follow union process for force reductions/layoffs/relocations

I thought the CEO said the worst was behind us? I know they still have to announce the BST and NT tech position eliminations. If they don’t get the right amount of people to turn in for the voluntary package, they will start choosing people. Those on PIP, ones with bad numbers followed by seniority (so I have been told). There are way too many BST and NT’s in the company and some areas have a bunch in one exchange.
