Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

These people need are to be fired

Rumor mill is filled with news of people about to be shown door. But, not sure who all are to let go. If walmart need to grow & compete, then their technology division need to revamp their employees. As a former employee who worked at david glass, I have seen many many many (count 100s, if not 1000s) people, of different ages, just sitting idle at break rooms, just sipping coffee or reading newspapers/books or just chatting. There is another set of people who just walk around inside the building thinking that it is an 'enclosed' park to walk around. Then there are people who just conducts lunch parties and such in the name of charity. There is another set of people who just procrastinate. Another set are those who do not want to change their technology expertise to new ones, as they do not want to learn. These are the people who need to be fired. If they are going to keep these people, then you can see amazon and others gaining foothold and walmart will no longer be many peoples go to store.

Walmart - if you are reading this take note and act, if you do not want to crumble

(checked with my friends over there, and nothing much has changed since I left)

@ vhx they could cut project and business analysts across the board and work would not be impacted. They can’t accomplish a single task by themselves besides, they are merely middle men and women.

No kidding. We have way too many project and business “analysts” delivering practically zero value to the company, among many other roles.

I worked with people who chatted, joked or went to meetings all day every day at Dgtc. There is a lot of room to cut in Dgtc.

You just about discribed almost every store. Walmart likes cheap labor, they get what they pay for.

They never like keeping the ones that work. Instead they find ways to

“Run” the hard working ones off. It’s a dysfunctional company. They apparently like things that way.

To the person commenting about Mac support from BV: my experience over the past 3 years and 2 mac laptops and one Mac desktop has been just the opposite, for what it’s worth. BV tech support has set up and provided competent troubleshooting every time, and I have three different people working on my Mac machines. For the record, I’m a long term Mac user, starting from the very first Mac in the 90s. So the kind of help I’ve needed has required real experts.

My one experience getting tech support from someone in BV was ridiculous. The guy sounded bored and slow and didn't know how to help me because I had a Mac instead of a "normal computer" (his words, not mine). I had way better experiences later with outsourced Indian IT. HO doesn't have what it takes to compete technically -- they need California, Hoboken and India for that.

The people you describe aren't the people I know who work there.

The problem Walmart leadership not knowing how to solve problems/strategies with new tech/ideas..Full stop. Marred in the past EDLP ways as the only way. Most need to be fired, but they all have each other's back since they all know none of them could hack it at a place that wasn't as political & kool-aid drinking as a means for mobility.

Reminds me of when Randy Salley got up at Tech Tuesday and basically bemoaned how few people were there. Dude knew the writing was on the wall for the division. And don't lie, when you're "watching" from your desk you're really not listening...
