Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

1,000 more to be laid off?

Found an article that speculates that close to 1,000 more will be on the chopping block at Windstream. It refers to "sources" for the information without naming them, so I'm really not sure what to think.

yeah, assistants were emailing managers for conference rooms for 2/14 & 15 for meetings regarding all onsite personnel. When it was brought to a director he said it was spam and to ignore. She then emails again asking......and she is in outlook. She dropped Laynes name when she wasnt getting a response. Not spam obviously. Something definately going on next month

As others have said, those that were notified on 1/17 Will be paid thru 2/2 payroll. The next round of layoffs is scheduled for 2/15 and will be paid thru 3/2 payroll. For those that are eligible, bonus announcements will be made the week on 2/12. That RIF will be around 700 people nationwide and across the board. No team or office is safe everyone will be affected. Bad news for our customers, installation, support, etc will suffer. That will lead to more churn and less cash finishing as a bankrupt company about 2 to 3 quarters out.

I work at Windstream in Ohio. We have been told we are safe. But that's for now I am sure. Stock is talking, we pay cash for another company and lay people off to pay for it. Moral is low and we are all over worked. Personally Tony Thomas is running us into the ground. Just my opinion. Going to polish my resume and move on.

Tony's blog mentioned 350 terminations late yesterday. How difficult yet necessary it was. Don't think they are done. Feb is just around the corner.

Windstream announced the purchase Mass Communications a week ago. All cash deal. In Sept Windstream extended Tony Thomas contract via the Delaware Securities Exchange Commission ..if he is let go he gets 166% of his contract salary as payout. ..and why is REIT...another company that holds all the assets..remember Windstream pays REIT over $600,000.00 + a month for access still occupying the Windstream building with Windstream at Laburnum Ave, Richmond VA. ...Windstream needs a unionew, for all not just some...do your homework compare how union represented employees are treated versus non union!

My resume went out a few days ago. Enough of being worried every other month while management lies and spins the story to draw blood from the few turnips left.

The latest Windstream actual count is 170. So 170 laid off with a total of 500 to 1000 in the next coming months. Advice start looking or if you have over 12 years stay and get severence...beware of severence which this go round has changed to a lump sum versus the maximum 12 weeks and prorated vacation payout! No one is safe and if your manager is telling you that you are that's BS. What is even more why is Windstream lying about the number of employees being let go! Why is Windstream so ridiculously top heavy on VP and upper management level. Why are in unproductive employees still there! Why are some building locations almost empty!
