I used to work for Macy’s, and know many people who did and still do, and all the lay offs are stemming from what I’m told is them spending almost 200 million on a new Employee system that s---s and I hear can’t properly pay employees and they are trying hard to hide what a failure it is. Watch, this will be Macy’s demise for sure. They used to be great, but have made horrendous decisions in the past 4 years that are not worth the money spent. I heard it’s Oracul Fusion, which is a huge failure in the industry. Let’s sit back and watch them implode, so glad I’m gone from their current nightmares. All I know who are close to the mess are looking for jobs.

I work within Macy’s Tech group, formerly MST. It’s a f’ing disaster! Blame game and finger pointing all over the place! I’m looking for a job.

Can confirm a few years back Macy’s was starting to invest huge in Solaris/Oracle even after the industry had sunset solaris. Lots of expensive sparc equipment brought in with limited usage outside of oracle database. And even then limited use for data warehouse. Have not kept up with Macy’s recent technology. But Macy’s was a kid in a candy store for sparc equipment.
Odd, I doubt they would spend another dime. I heard that the layoff of all the human resource teams are to offset paying for the expensive p.o.s. and people who supervises employees do hr now too for their employees.
Would love to be in those boardroom sessions.
I heard all the top dogs met with Microsoft in December..... Maybe something else is about to happen.
