Sources have told Arkansas Business that the total number of layoffs is in the hundreds, possibly nearing 1,000 over the coming weeks, but spokesman David Avery said the company would not disclose the overall number or the estimated savings from the reductions.

Why would you do that? You have seen over and over what’s happening. You need to bet on yourself and find another job while you still have that opportunity. You have a young family as you indicated. That’s why you get another job while you still can. Think about what keeps you from moving on. Is it because you will lose a weeks vacation starting elsewhere? When you lose it involuntary (and you will) with windstream, you will kick yourself for NOT making a move. At some point they will stop the severance as well- and just layoff. I had the same scenario a year ago when I was lost in the RIF. The difference was I had other skills and decided to make the move the next day. No matter how much your manager likes you, you are a number. Your manager is a number. I was the best and hardest working in my engineering group (others told me), yet... my numbers didn’t compute to keep me. Today start looking. Don’t wait until they make you start looking.
The high earners are not always the ones targeted. There were tons of lowest seniority folks let go yesterday. Either way, it is horrible. I have been with the company for 20 years now and I am not even 40 years old. I still have a young family to take care of. I have witnessed many RIF’s during my time here and it never gets easy to see it happen. I go to work everyday wondering when I will get my pink slip. What a crappy way to treat loyal hard working employees.
I wish nothing but the best for those affected by this. I hope you all find something better, something that makes you happy. In the end, we are just an E # to Windstream.
These jack weeds careless about loyalty , knowledge and the long tenure employees. The more vacation you have & the higher wage earners are & always be the target for layoffs. Yes it’s like this at any company in today’s world. It’s all about the share holders. Buckle up WS employees you’ll be expected to do more with less ...AGAIN !!
