Comical the email advertisement that was sent out is the Cabela’s/Bass logo on big JMs NASCAR. Whilst people await their fate and future old Johnny is all about dumping that money in NASCAR. Shameful leader.

Billionaire, with a B. Sure, he is in touch with all of us. How is the corporate tax cut gonna help us? Huh, Johnny?
This is so funny watching all this unfold. Hatfield's versus the McCoy's. Both companies are out of touch compared to others.
if you're you're not first, you're last...go hard or stay home...NASCAR sponsorship is cheap compared to other methods...if you're bitter, drink more koolaid...shake and bake...and remember tommy had your 6 covered.
No reason to get ugly...calling the other side names will fix nothing. Both companies are now one and we need to work together! There must be some return on a NASCAR sponsorship or companies wouldn't do it. $60 million dollars isn't much for that kind of advertising. A 30 second super bowl commercial this year is running $5 million...FOR 30 SECONDS! A $60 million investment in NASCAR lasts all year.
Typical Bass Pro inbred not reading the post and thinking before replying. Just because this company is now private certainly doesn’t mean that ‘ol Johnny and Jimmy can just blow money on b---s--- museums and good ‘ol hillbilly NASCAR at will. The bill will come due one day - or Goldman will be running this ship.
I think you missed the point. Yes JM is calling the shots and Cabela’s has no say in how or what JM does with the Cabela’s name. The point is Goldman financed the deal for BP to purchase Cabela’s. At some point Goldman will want to see some sort of return on their investment.
Jm doesn’t need permission from anyone at cab how he spends his money and sponsorship of NASCAR. Usually when you sponsor something isn’t there a contract signed. Bp is running the race now not cab.
It costs roughly $20 to $30 mil to sponsor a car. So BPS has 2. Regardless seems like there could be a better place to spend $60mil. Keep in mind Goldman financed this deal - they will want an ROI on the billions they put into this deal. One has to think they will begin to ask questions if the new company’s performance isn’t delivering. They will also begin to question where big JM’s spending their money.
It's been a long time since I attended a NASCAR race. Does BP set up a merchandise trailer at each race? If they are selling t-shirts and caps at $20 a pop, or more, That's a lot better margin than anything in the stores.
Sponsoring a NASCAR car is nothing more than marketing and advertising. It's a way to get people to think Bass Pro and or Cabela's. No different than advertising on TV, the radio or in print. Just a way to get people to by your wares. Even if it is just a candy bar at the check out line if that ad got them to go into the store. Next time in the store, they may buy a boat! They need to make their final employee decisions. That allows those that are tied to the community to move on. The uncertainty is a problem for all those in the community whether they are employed by Cabela's or not. Get r done!
How dare anyone have something positive to say on this page!
I think the cars look great with the Cabela's logo. I hope we sell the die cast models in the stores.
The more I read about our new dear leader, the more I am glad they are giving us little recourse than to find work elsewhere. It is not like we are in a growth industry anymore. The lol moment would be if the owner decides in a few years to go public and cash out in a big way.
That money belongs to Johnny, not the Cabelas employees. It is unfortunate what happened, but this entitlement attitude has to go. There is nothing shameful about Johnny spending his money however he wants to- he does not owe the employees of Cabelas anything more than he is legally obligated to give. And to expect or feel entitled to more is naive. Like the previous posters said- this is business.
Look, it s---s what happened. Cabela's sold out. But they had every right to. So lets all move on. This is life.
Amen! Once again Sidney’s pity party 🎉
The people of Sidney need to shake off the fantasies that Cabela's preached for so many years. Business are not families....they are not important pillars of the community...they have no commitments to keep a certain amount of people employed. If you doubt these statements, then why did the Cabela's family throw all the people of Sidney under the bus after years of dedicated service. Where are the small town values now?
Companies are not around to keep people employed, they are around to make money. In the real world businesses open and close facilities, move production offshore and automate. When they see they can eliminate a bunch of jobs by automating a process, they do it.
Johnny is spending money on NASCAR because he thinks his business is getting something in return. This decision has nothing to do with layoffs in Sidney.
