Really, Dennis you are amazing coming out with this now. GE has always focused on the short term. Where were you 5, 10, 15 or 20 years ago? That short term focus also facilitated an environment of elitism, lack of cooperation, focus on rewarding and empowering the most senior executives as they met or exceeded their made up targets dreamed up in beautiful powerpoint displays

What a croc from a big bullshipper
very well said. IMHO, this is one of the biggest reasons why there is no quick fix. The company is filled with a majority of people (at ALL levels! not only the executives!) who have a short-term mindset. In hiring, in making business decisions, in everything, Ask yourself why GE as a company has no vision, no mission. "curing, powering, moving the world" is just BS. It's not a vision that inspires employees and the markets.
Things should be made to last. Companies should be made to last. This is where the value is. Short-term attitude can only support a survival mode.
