Well done 8th and Walton! I look forward to future episodes.
8th and Walton isn't a Walmart site. Betsy used to work for Walmart. 8th and Walton is a supplier community support site.
You’ve done nothing wrong. You’ve been with the company for 10, 15, or maybe over 20 years. Your last evaluation went great, and you even got a raise. The thing is, when it comes time to start laying employees off to cut expenses, none of that matters.
It’s a horrible reality in business today, but unfortunately, layoffs are the new normal during the first quarter. Whether they impact you or someone close, it’s always wise to be prepared and know what to expect those first few weeks after you get the news.
As we begin this series of what to do after you’ve been laid off, 8th & Walton’s Vice President of Media and Marketing Betsy Reithemeyer joins us with some powerful insight. Betsy counsels leaders each month impacted by layoffs. We’ll get her perspective on:
What you should be doing when you do have a job that will set you up for success if you get laid off.
-
Best practices for that first week of unemployment.
-
Shifting focus to your personal brand.
-
Properly communicating your job-seeking status.
-
Dos and Don’ts for life after layoff.
This is the first in a series of podcasts to help you in-between jobs. Next week, we’ll look at your resume with one of the top corporate recruiters working today. Is there something specific you’d like us to cover in this series? We’re doing this to help you, so please contact us by clicking here and tell us what resources you need. Also, please subscribe to the 8th & Walton Conference Call podcast and pass it along to a friend!
