Thread regarding Chicago Bridge & Iron layoffs

Temporary layoffs my behind

Anybody notice how CB&I made sure to use the words "could be " when announcing supposedly temporary layoffs at Walker pipe fabrication yard?

I'm willing to bet my house that it has already been decided that majority of those (if not all) are permanent, and the word temporary is being thrown around to avoid panic and bad press.

I believe that at one time layoffs at facilities like this one were truly temporary, but that time is long gone, in my opinion.

The floods at some of these locations really hurt us. Walker work was shipped elsewhere and that work never really came back. Island park the same. Gone are the days of holding on to workers. They just move the work to where the workers are.

I guess the fact cb&i can't contract any work is shaws fault too right? Arrogant, ignorant management led all companies under cb&i umbrella to failure. Bad thing is, most of them are still hiding under there desks, waiting on dust to settle.

High overhead recovery. No work. Sad, the layoffs won't have an impact on lower the overhead cause CBI still have to pay for all that Shaw debt. Remember when everyone was celebrating this a measly few years ago.

CB&I told Tyler they did not have to worry about shutting the shop down in Tyler two weeks before CB&I shut it down. Do not believe anything you hear.

Its all a bunch of pre-meditated lies fabricated by people like glascock and friends at corporate. It started at one facility, then spread like cancer across all of fabrication services. Only a choice few know end game, but in meantime alot of good men and women are headed home without jobs. These guys dont care enough about the people who got them where they are to even tell you the truth. Im one of a few dozen left at another facility, and they still dont have the decency to tell us the truth. You guys will get a shutdown manager appointed to you ( someone hoping to kiss thier way into new job) to tell you how to shudder your facility. I find it hard to believe that a company lets a whole division fail, close all the shops, and sit on a bunch of empty properties that have been picked clean. You can give up. These guys are masters of deceipt, out for their payoff, that will smile at you as they lie to your face. You'll be getting a visit soon from the Z man. Wish you all the best, youre better off somewhere else than working for these bottom feeding, slimy bastards!
