Is more layoffs coming in May when the company re evaluates the plant? Speculation is that there is going to be 300 more and they are going to turn Schenectady NY into a service shop. Does anyone know? Good luck to Schenectady NY!

More are to come! 9.2 billion in revenue and 280 million in profits. What work is left is going to France.
CEO John Flannery said the company's "underlying strengths and value" are being "suppressed" in its current structure.
"As a result, we are looking aggressively at the best structure or structures for our portfolio to maximize the potential of our businesses, continue to deliver outstanding products and services to our customers, enhance our ability to provide attractive opportunities for our employees, while maximizing value for our shareholders," Flannery said.
Provide attractive opportunities for our employees Ha by laying off seasoned veterans of the company and replacing them with people from the times useless? Or creating positions double and triple the work load at a fraction of what one seasoned guy did. Or union busting indirectly?
The Chattanooga plant was sold.
Layoffs are happening in Schenectady? Both my VP’s and all the directors on my team haven’t heard a word here in building #1 other then some rumors. I know that we did loose one team member back in June and it was awful. GE refused to extend his personal vehicle stipend for greater than six months and provided a lump sum payout equivalent to only 36 months of extension pay. Five years with the company as an exec and all they can do is give you a check for 36 months pay, provide 12 months of paid healthcare, and a rental car for six months. Absolutely disgusting. He is a great professional and deserved better.
By the way does anyone here work at that really big building near the back of the plant across from the building with the chimneys? I think that we must store stuff in there because we always see train cars with huge wooden boxes on them being moved in and out of it when we are looking out our office windows. Is that where the layoffs are supposedly happening?
To all our GE Schenectady team - I’m sure that all this layoff stuff is just nonsense and rumors. Work hard and all will be fine. Have a great 2018.
Why would they bring wind turbines to NY when they have the new Alstom plant in Chattanooga? That campus is less than ten years old and can do anything energy. It is also on a deep water river port, so no need for trucking. I interviewed there in 2011. Glad I didn't take it.
alot more
I work in Schenectady and have heard another 170 hourly would be laid off in May to make a total of 300.
They have already hit indirect labor pretty heavily (inventory control, SFO, etc.). I don't know where the focus will be in May.
What about bar shop? They said that would be first to go in 2016
I don't think it would be another 300 I think it would be 150 to 170 to equal 300. and I also believe they may try to get the windmill business onto the Schenectady campus
