GE layoff assistants Lee Hecht Harrison

Just throwing this out there. Trying to see if it me or does Lee Hecht Harrison just s---. They have done nothing for me since day one. I’ve done everything they’ve tasked me with and still no input or results. I wish GE would have given me. The $$$ there paying them to support us, sure would have been nice to have a few extra bucks.

"GE does it for optics"

Since when does GE do things just for optics?

Yes, they SU_ _. and the money being paid to them is wasted. GE does it for optics so they can say they are helping those who they are getting rid of.

GE just wants the political points or tax credit after purging people.

I used LHH following my GE layoff last spring. I was not impressed. They gave some good tips, especially on resume writing, and had some decent classes. They also give access to some semi-useful tools. However working one on one with a coach was almost useless. In the end I did get a great job but I honestly can't give them any credit for it....it was all me.

Can anyone recommend a good resume review. I can’t even get that out of LHH. The guy I have is more concerned about enhancing his own LinkedIn in profile than helping the people assigned to him.

People are more empowered with technology to find jobs themselves. More recruiters are using LinkedIn. Executive search firms are generally only used for VPs and above. The only benefit to LHH is to have them review your resume and hear their feedback. You stare at your resume for so long that you have blinders; we all do. Have someone independently and critically look at your resume and take their feedback for what it is, feedback.

Did not do any thing for me. Total waste of time dealing with these people.

They don't help you find a job. They give advice on how to find a job in their one size fits all approach of getting around hr, telling you about linkedin, etc

I didn’t use them and they called me everyday for months. It’s up to us to find our own job.

I agree they never helped anyone that i know. I attended some of the classes and they just talked about there personal success or some of their friends. Most jobs are obtained by being at right place at right time. As for those GE jobs you may notice that people are being moved to safe positions between functions based on how much you s---ed up to manager and they like you.
