I've been hearing rumors that more closures will be announced next week, but I can't find anything to confirm that.
Usually there is at least some chatter here, but this time nothing. Should I just ignore this as pure speculation?
I guess with everything that's been happening, I'm on the edge and it doesn't take much to rattle me.

No. That’s it for now. Stores,that are closing aren’t laying off anyone. They need all they can get to work the liquidation sale and it’s a term of receiving severance that you have to remain employed through a certain date to help get the store closed.
Some Low-hour part-time sales associates were laid off yesterday at Macy’s Schaumburg, IL store. They were told by phone. Don’t have all the numbers yet since it just happened yesterday. I believe the store closing announcements will follow shortly.
Our DDAP also told us that the closing stores had their inventories cancelled, so if you have an inventory this week, you are not closing. We spent the last three nights of inventory at our store back in the AP office looking for and posting to the job boards. I know that many if not most of my peers who also lost their jobs have been doing the same thing.
No point spending all your time looking for missed physical and conducting inventory when you don't know how you are going to be feeding your family in a month. I cared about my job and my store, but that didn't matter to Macy's. I laughed when the district team had the inventory call last night and talked about how everyone needed to lead the recon process next week. My LinkedIn is updated and I have already posted to 15 jobs, I expect to have posted to every position available in the market in AP before my peers do.
They may announce some 2019 closure's early. I know in the nw region they did announce a store in 2017 that was closing in 2018.
If your store is conducting an inventory, most likely not.
