They already cut 150 people from Realty back in November. I wonder if that 300 counts in the 1000 since their 60 day grace period to find a job within the company has passed and pretty much none of them found a job. Or if this is a completely new 1000.

8,000 store associates at management and hourly levels will be cut including wireless some support managers and department managers

If you are hourly associate in a non department manager job making more than $11 an hour you can easily be replaced with someone fresh off the street who will work for $11. It is not about experience or tenure. When they get rid of an older worker earning $15 an hour and replace them with an inexperienced worker who will work for $11 an hour the writing should be on the wall. This pay increase will further benefit walmart because older workers cannot keep up with the unrealistic demands while inexperienced workers will flock to the new pay rate. So the pay increase is another windfall netting walmart a few bucks a head. They'll just heard more young sheep to the clipper.
