How can a seniority based union shop have a layoff and people with less time than another get laid off? THE SCHENECTADY NY LOCAL 301 BLOWS JUST AS HARD IF NOT HARDER THAN GE!

It goes by affected job code, then by service...then you start “bumping;” that’s the way it has always been because it’s the only way that makes sense. A few outliers aside, maybe a dozen people total, it basically goes straight down the lines of seniority. Let it all play out.
I’ll grant you, though, that there’s something shady going on with how they’re basically declaring the low service people in Building 66 “unbumpable.” The union is trying to negotiate to keep it fair, but the company won’t hear it.
The union doesn’t blow, that much...I promise you it would be so much worse without a contract or a union. Keep it together, do your job and take your bump or walk away with recall rights knowing you could very well return. I work with many who got called back in and got to keep all their service. CHINS UP EVERYBODY!
If you'd paid careful attention at the 1/9/2018 union meeting, you may have heard the comprehensive answers our Business Agent provided. We have a bumping system by seniority.
Do you already know which people are affected ? Are they giving you four weeks notice?
I think you mean how someone with less service stay over a more senior guy? Idiot! I do agree with the other part you idiot.
