Heard from a manager buddy that systems managers will need to evaluate their employees based on whether or not they’re nessesary and that anyone who is rated poorly and isn’t nessesary will be cut.

My manager in Systems told me a few weeks back that I should be working like my job depended on it. That comment seemed to lack context...
In my annual performance reviews over the past 10 years, I've been rated an average 2/2 performer. Coincidentally, I've also had new managers every 6 months that whole time, too.
It’s probably that the new evaluation System requires goals and tasks. If you have none you can’t really get evaluated. My goals may be obsoleted by end of March.
