Program and product mgmt at QC is really a joke. They don’t do anything and don’t know anything. To keep their ridiculously high positions they just create a lot of dirty politics. A source of all the corruption.

Dont see why Program management should get hurt. They must be managing the programs well to get the products out no ?

Product management role should be absorbed into engineer dir/vps since their main job is status collection.

OPs program management may survive with cuts. The overall program manager's work will be done by the engineering lead. Program management, other than the tasks done on the operations side has always been a redundant position that was often done more by the design and/or PTE lead anyway. We'll still need someone to do things like order wafers, staging, etc. but that's just grunt work. Hmm, perhaps we'll get rid of the ops pgm management also and have the PTE lead do the grunt work (when not performing janitorial tasks of course).

Now get back to work please, I need another retention bonus.

Regards, Steve

PRODUCT AND PROGRAM MANAGGEMENT..BIGGEST BLOAT IN QC. 10 yrs back there was one PM and 5 engineer discussing tec issue. Now there are 3 Product managers, 2 program managers and 2 engineer in similar meetings. No decision, nothing gets done...all BS talk..

Octane doesn't need useless program management and more management layers; they will be eliminated ; this is part of reinvigorating the organization

I heard RA, CA's brother isn't safe anymore after Octane takes over

Well, they are the only ones that know how to collect status from the engineers, so they are probably safe.

Why do we need PM, PE And prod mgr. One lead is sufficient.

Pm and pdm does not bring any value for Qualcomm

They are good to be here as long as gravy train is coming

But when it is time to tighten the belt .. these non essential positions can be easily eliminated.

On top of that... most of the pm and pdms are in their position not because of qualification but because they know someone here...
