Upper management already knows how it's going down - they're asking employees that will be laid off to complete important tasks and transferring knowledge in "strategic" (i.e. secret) ways.
All the details regarding how to lay off individuals, etc. is being completed and prepared.
If you will be affected, there's nothing you can do anymore.

saving seems to be a short team plan per the latest post. If Qualcomm shows savings for this year, assured to be ready for another drama starting October again. A company of this size should have a long term plan, proper execution. Appears you guys like moving targets and keep playing....
Summary, SM needs to plan savings of 1 bil this year and it should stay that way going forward. Crate a metrics starting ext year to beat this in ongoing basis.

The reason for the 1.6 billion is that the 1billion saving refer to the ongoing FY. You have to prorate the amount! The practical aspect is that we will get cuts equivalent to 1.6billion.
yet another BS. 1500 will not cut it! QC has to show savings of 1bil without NXP, which is what investor are asking and SM committed. 1 bil savings is ~4000 heads.
If 1500 is the # leaked out and true, another big avalanche on its way soon. This would also mean, management is trying to play tricks again with numbers.
Watch out, how they release numbers. It will be super convoluted without any logic.
Note - SM is taking about 1.6 bil savings, perhaps its WITH Pr. Trumps new tax policy, which he did not explicitly state. He is playing with with his words.

they may find easy to close some of the divisions, which are going to overlap with NXP ..
