Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Can we volunteer for the package?

I'm a proximity worker in the age 55+ range. I was not affected by the nuke that was dropped last week. Does anyone know if I can request getting the package? If so I might be able to save a slot for one of my team that really needs to stay employed.

I would like to know the same thing. I'd be happy to walk out with a package. I gave this company more then enough in my over two decades here.

No opting out in L&D at any level. Not even people located outside of the named locations who aren’t mobile. Not even an option for leadership being cut in half.

...but to answer your question, I believe the answer is no. The packages will not be offered to non-affected employees, even if requested. They would just consider that quitting...which trust me, has crossed my mind several times over the last year, even after 35 years of service.

If you opt out, you get a severance pkg of 1 wks pay for each of the 1st ten years + 2 wks pay for each full year after, with a cap of 52 weeks. They will also pro-rate each day you are there of any partial year after that (current year, foe example).

If you opt in but don't have a job offer by July 31st, you get the same EXACT severance pkg. Both are the same, no differential in "voluntary" or "involuntary" as they had with Section Management. They did that to sweeten the pot for SMs so more would voluntarily take it, and they don't want to sweeten it for us...as they don't want too many operational people jumping ship before they are ready to handle the workload that would still exist. (SMs had a voluntary pkg of 1.5wks/3wks pay for years 1-10/10+...involuntary if not job offer was 1.5wks/2wks. Their cap was also 70-something weeks.)

That’s a lie. I’m in the affected group of proximity employees and you get a severance package based on your time with the company.

Don’t get me wrong this is stressful and I’m not sure about my future but to say SF is giving its employees nothing is an out right lie! Or you are just a troll on here trying to cause trouble.

If you jump on a grenade do you get the GJ Meherle Board of Directors Freedom Medal? Presented at the March 2nd employee appreciation ceremony.

There might even be cake and ice water, like some of those fantastic soirée we had for ECS!

You volunteer, you make them know you want out. Which means they'll probably just decide to wait you out and save a package.
