"We reduced the head office in part because we'd sold off the bottling companies and we were able to bring in some new digital technology, and we shrunk the head office and got more focused on empowering the countries out there," Quincey told CNBCfollowing a question about the culture shakeup. "So we're taking the necessary steps in a Coke way -- humanely and with dignity -- but we're gonna be productive."

The Coca-Cola Co. (NYSE: KO) will see a new round of layoffs over the next few months, many coming at the company's Atlanta headquarters.
Coca-Cola spokesperson Kent Landers said the company expects a net reduction of about 250-350 management positions from its North American business unit, which has a total of about 8,000 employees. The cuts are in addition to the 1,200 corporate layoffs worldwide that the company announced last year, which Coca-Cola said was needed to create a "leaner corporate organization."
Landers said the company will continue hiring and expects to re-orient some roles toward "updated capabilities and innovation" and to "create new jobs to meet the accelerated growth agenda of our business."
"We recognize that any decision that impacts our employees’ lives is difficult and we are committed to treating our people with dignity, fairness and respect through this process," Landers said in a company statement.
The changes come as the company implements a new operating model that returns ownership of the bottling system to local operators. The North American business unit has been going through massive reshaping over the past few years, focused on brand innovation.
The Coca-Cola Co. released a topsy-turvy fourth-quarter 2017 earnings report earlier this month, beating analysts expectations, while also seeing net revenue decline by 20 percent. The decline comes in part from the company's efforts to re-franchise its bottling operations, the company said.
A Coca-Cola employee gave Atlanta Business Chronicle an inside look at the mood around its Atlanta headquarters in June, as the corporate restructuring rolled out, calling it a "very sad place right now."
