Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

How to convince somebody they have no job security at Qualcomm?

My dad has been with Qualcomm for a little over two decades and he has this infuriating blind love and trust for the company. I keep trying to get him to if nothing else update his resume and send out a few feelers, but it's like talking to a wall.

He trusts that being with the company for that long and being one of their best will keep him safe, when from my understanding, him falling under rule 70 means near certain layoff. My biggest issue is how crushed he will be and how betrayed he will feel if he gets laid off.

I'm honestly not sure what to do.

I agree with @prp . Its time for you to find a job instead of your dad.

He will be well taken care by Qcomm for his service even he gets lay off. So time for you to step up.

Um, go to school and then get a job at Google?

That's what I would do in your situation.

Dad's been with the Q for over 2 decades? He should be financially secure.

Everyone learns in their own way, don't waste your energy. Save it for when/if he needs you
