with so many people taking the settlement, how will the (Sidney) business continue? How can you plan operations of a business if you have no idea how many people will be left?
What are the expectations if you stay? Will there be work to do? Or are you just marking time until the official layoff.

Just because some people weren’t offered a buyout doesn’t mean they are safe long term. Bp is only trying to figure out is that person truly needed and I’m guessing by the end of the year that answer is no.
Not everyone was offered the buyout. BP knows who they want to work in Sidney. Will it be the right mix of people? Know one knows until the dust settles after the bought out people leave. You've got to think that more consolidation will occur until BP management feels that what they have left in Sidney, if anything, fits their overall operations plan. If they have a plan. So...that being written, bombard the Kaiser with questions. It will take everyone to ask her questions and not just a few. The track record of BP so far has been "don't ask questions if you want your job." If your buyout has been accepted, coast until your last day. Clean out your desk immediately and spend the rest of your time visiting with coworkers and drinking Irish Coffee. After all St. Pattie's Day is near!! Ride a Segue down the halls for fun! It should be a party house until the bought out people are gone! After all, if you're bought out, what are they going to do, fire you?
