I started working in the Cisco TAC in 1997 and have had several rotations through it - and a competitor's TAC -as well. It was and continues to be a very tough way to make a living. I have worked for nearly 40 years in the high tech arena and the TAC jobs I have had were the hardest and most stressful environments I have ever experienced. It is a great way to start your career but don't stay too long. A few years tops. If anyone has a bad opinion of TAC engineers- pick up the phone for a few months. You will be singing a different tune.

The latest comment seems to go the extreme. Cisco is quite diverse in the tac talent. There are engineers from Mexico City, Texas, Bangalore, Poland, I could go on and on. TS continues to get praise from the industry on how Services operate, I would find it hard to believe of what you’re saying is true, Cisco services to have grown year over year.

Last 2 years its just complete Indian support, it s---s completely, it is not even a shadow of what it used to be 5 or 10 years ago.

Bugs are not addressed, nor even recognized, they try to implement moronic workarounds, some if not most don't even have a firm understanding of networking these days, and to top it all off they don't even know how to speak proper English most of the time, which is not that difficult.

Some time ago you could avoid Indian tac just by using the follow the sun rule, not anymore.

Escalation of a TAC cases to the BUs is almost non existant these days and when it actually does it takes months to even get a reply and the quality is not that great either, to me it seems more like a level 1 help desk these days than a Major Manufacturer Technical Support. half decent escalations where you actually get a guy that has a clue of how the tech works have to go through the AMs which is just stupid.

I remember being on a long customer call and having to speak up in order to cover the sound of the TAC rep snoring. Is this the TAC that complains about bad treatment??
