When discussing the latest Reorganization you need to take a look at the bigger picture. 1. The Field Proximity footprint is going down another 40%. 2. The decision to retain Proximity people was made solely on geography, not on job performance. 3. The use of Independent Adjusters was historically only on Catastrophe, now it is much more common place. 4. Claims Re-inspection and Claims Training positions are being moved inside. The Trainers and Re-inspectors are all being let go in my area.

What message does that send those Proximity reps remaining?

  1. The higher ups are doubling down on their bet that they can move work inside. Field presence is going down another 40% and the reward for keeping your jobs is that you will have to do more work. 2. Customer service and job performance do not matter, so long as the work gets done. 3. The lack of Re-inspection and Training tells me that there is no long term future in the field. Why have trainers in an area that is going away? Also, Re-inspecting claims for overloaded employees will just give the same message that the company has been receiving - mistakes are being made, claims are being overpaid and customers are not happy with the service. This is just noise to those making the master plans. 4. As the company sheds policies, they want to have proximity reps located where the core policy count is. Long term, look for Independents to be covering some of the more rural areas. 5. Going through these Reorgs never gets easier and if you are lucky enough to keep your job, start working now on building up an emergency fund and develop some alternatives for when your time comes.

And the claim reps are getting a involuntary severance which is half of voluntary severance which upper management received. This after 42 years of loyalty and sweat for them. My entire family is changing insurance companies.
