OMG, letting 7 FMs go and not a single DOF. FM's manage 8 to 12 people and DOF may have 3 to 4. DOF's have no clue how to manage systems or people and there the last to go. There should be 1 DOF to 9 to 12 FMs to be realistic. Time to throw these blowhards overboard.

Voluntary Separation Program (VSP) - General Questions – Finance Advisors

VOLUNTARY SEPARATION PROGRAM

What is the Voluntary Separation Program?

This program allows you to volunteer to terminate your employment with University of Phoenix effective March 2, 2018 in exchange for the standard severance outlined in the severance policy.

How do I volunteer?

Complete the Voluntary Separation Program Application attached to the email dated February 22, 2018. Scan and email the application to UOPXVolunteers@phoenix.edu. The deadline for applications is Monday February 26, 2018 (5 p.m. AZ time).

Will my manager know I volunteered?

This program is being administered confidentially through the Human Resources Department. No one, including your manager will know if you volunteered. Leaders will only know who was selected to participate in the program.

If I volunteer, when is my actual termination date?

If you are selected for the Voluntary Separation Program, your official termination date will be March 2, 2018. However, your last day worked will be no later than February 28, 2018.

If I am selected into the Voluntary Separation Program will my termination reason be listed as a resignation or reduction in force?

Your termination will be reflected as a reduction in force.

What would my severance be if I volunteered to leave the company?

Your final severance will be determined based on your completed years of service and termination date. The amount will be confirmed with your final termination paperwork. EXAMPLE:

If I am selected for the Voluntary Separation Program will I still be able to file for unemployment?

The company will not contest unemployment claims filed by employees terminated as a result of this reduction in force. Since the Voluntary Separation Program is reflected as a reduction in force, you are free to apply for unemployment benefits through the state unemployment agency in your local area. For the location of your state’s unemployment agency and procedures, go to www.servicelocator.org and click on Unemployment Benefits. Please contact your state unemployment office for any and all questions regarding the unemployment process.

What happens if I change my mind and want to withdraw my request to participate in the Voluntary Separation Program?

You are able to request to remove your application into the Voluntary Separation Program by emailing UOPXVolunteers@phoenix.edu any time before the deadline of February 26, 2018 (5 p.m. AZ time). Once the deadline has passed, you will not be able to rescind your Voluntary Separation Program application.

I already gave my resignation notice to the organization prior to the announcement of the Voluntary Separation Program. Can I now rescind my resignation and participate in the Voluntary Separation Program?

Since you have already officially resigned with the organization, you are not eligible to participate in the Voluntary Separation Program.

What happens if I accept another position within the organization before March 2, 2018? Will I still be eligible for the severance package?

No, you are still considered an active employee with the organization until March 2, 2018.

What happens if there are too many volunteers for the Voluntary Separation Program? How will you decide who will be selected?

If there are too many volunteers, employees will be randomly selected for participation by representatives of Human Resources and Legal.

When will I be notified if I am selected to participate in the Voluntary Separation Program?

If you are selected to be a participant of the Voluntary Separation Program, you will be notified no later than February 28, 2018 and released from your duties at that time.

Why is the Voluntary Separation Program not offered to everyone?

The program was offered based on our current business needs.

When do my benefits end?

Your benefits will end on March 2, 2018, at midnight. You will be eligible to continue medical, dental, and vision coverage under the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985 (COBRA).

If I am not selected or choose not to participate in the Voluntary Separation Program, can I still be impacted by a reduction in force?

If not enough employees volunteer for the Voluntary Separation Program the University will implement an involuntary reduction to further reduce staff in order to meet business needs.

A Message for Finance Advisors

Hello Team,

As I’ve mentioned in recent all staff meetings, Financial Services staffing levels are driven by the total number of students we need to support. While we had hoped that our natural employee attrition would keep pace with our total enrollment, our current staffing levels must be reduced to align with our student support needs. Based on our current projections we need to reduce by approximately 65 finance advisors. This decision has been very difficult and is not taken lightly.

In order for us to succeed and to reach our goals, we will need committed and engaged employees that will see us through this transformation.

We are offering a Voluntary Separation package for those advisors that choose to exit the University. If we do not receive enough volunteers to meet our staffing level, we will have an involuntary reduction in force.

Voluntary Separation:

· If you volunteer and are selected, you will receive our standard severance package

· All Applications (attached) must be submitted to UOPXVolunteers@phoenix.edu by Monday February 26th, 2018, 5:00 PM, Phoenix time.

· If we have more than the minimum amount of volunteers needed in the area described above, all participants will be selected through a random process and will be notified if they are included in the February action.

· Impacted finance advisors will be notified on Wednesday February 28, and this will be their last day worked; however, they will continue in an active, non-working status and will continue to receive pay and benefits through March 2, 2018.

· Details regarding the Voluntary Separation are attached. (Voluntary Separation agreement and FAQs)

We encourage you to read and understand the terms and conditions of this voluntary severance. The deadline for submitting the application for the Voluntary Separation Program is Monday, February 26th, 2018, 5:00 PM, Phoenix time. Applications must be submitted to UOPXVolunteers@phoenix.edu.

Reduction in Force – Involuntary Severance (if applicable):

· If we do not receive enough volunteers to meet our staffing level, we will have an involuntary reduction in force.

· Impacted employees will be notified by February 28.

· Employees will continue in an active, non-working status and will receive pay and benefits through March 2, 2018.

· Official termination date will be March 2, 2018.

· Information regarding the standard severance program is attached in the FAQ

We understand that this announcement and the anticipated changes are difficult. We have every faith that you will remain professional in your interactions with students, peers and internal customers, and, like any other internal activity, this is not something we would share with our students. We know you will continue to adhere to our standards and expectations around performance, attendance and conduct and set a good example for your peers.

To summarize:

· February 22nd– Voluntary Separation window opens.

o The deadline for submitting the attached application for the Voluntary Separation Program to UOPXVolunteers@phoenix.edu is 5:00 p.m. Phoenix time Monday, February 26.

· February 26 - 5:00 p.m. (Phoenix time) – Voluntary Separation Program window closes

· February 28 – FA Volunteers notified (if applicable)

· February 28 – Involuntary Reduction in Force FA notifications (if applicable)

· March 2 – Official termination date for voluntary and involuntary severance employees

Regards,

Bronson Ledbetter

If the AC staff was earlier this week then Finance would be the next on the agenda. Directors and VPS would be targeted next.
