Our store lost all of its specialist positions and a number of my shop captain jobs have cropped up. The thing is, that even with a nearly similar job description to a specialist, our store opened them up to anyone without first offering them to the specialists. How is your store handling this fiasco?

Yes, that is what they SHOULD be doing but have yet to show. Only one out of three promoted deserve a future as an "executive ". It truly is a joke for the amount they're paid.
My Shop Captains should be associate one can invision as a future Macy’s executive. We are utilizing our captains as elevated associates, who are leading their current teams and assisting their sales managers with overrides, customer service, associate engagement and sales. Majority of our specialist were complacent, showed no drive, weren’t friendly, didn’t make customers a priority and most definitely not potential executive material. This isn’t the case for all specialist but those wondering why they weren’t offered the new title, this may be why.
Now that our "shop captains " have been put in place, I see them doing nothing more than any other associate. What has been added to their job duties? So frustrating when they're getting paid $3 to $4 an hour more than a sales associate. Same job!
There’s only a few extra MyShop captain jobs created per store. We get three but we had 12 specialists. Have seen nothing about MyShop Specialist titles.....why still call something a Specialist when there’s nothing “Specialist” about the job any more? What I’ve seen is anyone not selected to be a new MyShop Captain just gets the title of Sales Associate. Please provide proof of this “My Shop Specialist” title!
We did not get any My Shop Specialist positions. Just Captains.
The new positions are called My Shop Specialists with no merit raises.
Same exact way! The Shop Captain positions are open to any current employees, with no offers to the former specialists.
