So... my lay-off date was 2/1/2018 and I have still not received information to transfer to COBRA. Called insurance, benefits expire the end of this month. Called Mercer who handles COBRA for Windstream who reached out to a benefits counselor. Seems that Windstream feels no need to send the info package for transfer of benefits till a few days before the end of the month. Isn't that special? What happens if I need medical attention during the lapse of transfer? Thanks Windstream! You ROCK!

Amen! To pay $1,200.00 per month and receive a $6,500.00 deductible per person. That’s the definition of bulls__t and insanity. Good luck.
You have 60 days from the time your insurance ends. If you don’t take cobra initially you can retroactive it, as you have 60 days to do it past your last insured date. Let’s say break an arm 40
Days into your cobra timeline. If you haven’t purchased it yet you can buy it retroactively and still be covered.
COBRA lol? When laid off your money needs to be stretching for more important things than health insurance racket. If you need to go to doctor pay in cash and get the 50% discount. Instead of letting them bill your insurance and doubling the price before the insurance kicks the bill back over to you.
COBRA will be very expensive and all you get is a high deductible. When i got laid off here in Florida, I called Florida Blue and ended up with a $30 a month premium and a 1250 deductible for the year. This was under the affordable care act and also due to my household income. Check your state.
