Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

IT needs to be cleaned out

IT at PepsiCo is bloated with a bunch of overpaid bureaucrats who spend their entire days in meetings. Then you have the Indian contractors who just take orders but don't have a clue what's going on. You have security which is now the most overstaffed part of IT. All in all, IT is a dumpster fire that will continue to burn.

I agree completely, @RM8rK5m-ily. I'm sorry for the few hard working people in IT who got caught up in this mess, but the IT as a whole is a mess that needs fixing desperately. Fixing and cutting down to half its current size.

Well when the IT leader was giving marching orders to offshore/outsource much of the labor 5 years ago and the few qualified folks are having to cover both offshore inexperience and onshore demand plus face to the business , what do you expect ? As a service just means that (as a service ) we are going to insert another layer of complexity/incompetence and get paid. It’s the “blame” layer. Quality IT takes experienced staff with a clear vision and strategy. The culture was fine with OS/2 until 2008 so that should tell you something.

I’ve seen IT departments cut to the bone at other companies. Then the infrastructure group is overwhelmed and programmers are moved into server admin roles in which they are not trained in.

Customer service degrades, customers complain, resulting in more cuts. It is a downwards spiral.

Cleaned out how? Depending how old you are or how long you're there? There's enough people in IT just not even distribution of work.
