Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Do I need to tell my story about snakes falling from the air vents to cheer you up???

I just wanted to post to send my support to all my former friends and colleagues. I left Pepsi 4 years ago after 16 years and I want to share some thoughts.

First, I know that you may feel that your worth has diminished, that your no longer viable. Let me assure you, even if you were in a position that was specialized for Pepsi\Frito, the skills utilized in those positions can translate into roles at other organizations. Project Management, Application Development, Automation, Streamlining, Process Improvement, Global Leadership, Vendor Management and on and on. Please know that you can make a huge impact at other companies. Other places really look to seasoned people like former Pepsi employee's to improve corporate culture and foster collaboration. I'm not just saying this to make you feel better. I've seen it first hand. I increased my pay by almost 40% once I left Pepsi. And the change pushed my comfort zone in a very positive way. Don't hesitate to take a chance. Don't sell yourself short. You all worked very hard and it counts for something. Don't let anyone tell you differently.

Most companies seem to have some type of "RIF" activity once or twice a year. Bottom 5 percent of performers. It's unfortunate but I would expect this almost anywhere you go. It's business and I know it feels personal...I get it.

For those with packages, be thankful they gave you something. Many of us got completely rooked out of a package at all. Even after 16 years.

Last, I know a bit about snakes within the company. I had to endure many of them as well as unpleasant rumors and all kinds of mess. Pepsi isn't an easy place to survive let alone thrive. Trial by blue fire. Anyway, I hope all of you who were impacted find a new home at a place that values your input and experience. Take Care, The original "Snakeman"...

And as one of those that was "rooked" along with you, thank you for this. Very well said. The emotional roller coaster of Pepsi is really like a war zone.
