Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Look how far we've come

Look around people. In the past few years we have had 0 raises and 1 or 2% before that, health insurance cut to the bare minimum allowed by law, regular layoffs, outsourcing of entire departments, the network itself sold off, and the dividend cut. Just think about how much money that adds up to, at least hundreds of millions, and then let it sink in that despite all of that we are still treading water. I hope for everyone's sake that things can turn around. I just wonder what else can out will be done if it doesn't.

There is no growth in this businesses. It's a dying business model. They are trying to exit that business. Over the top services like Netflix, Vonage, etc. are the future. Any services that run on TDM are GONE in 3 years or less.

"" Things are far far worse than they seem in this company. I work in an ILEC area. Our main source of business is residential voice & dsl. The new "Re-branding" doesn't address anything for us. ""

I don't mean to rub salt in a wound but I thought it important that the a true picture of TT's income be provided.

President & CEO Windstream Holdings (WIN) Little Rock, AR

Total Compensation For Year 2016 $4,410,699

Salary $1,000,000

Bonus $0

Value of Stock Awards $2,208,308

Value of Option Awards $0

Non-Equity Incentive Plan Compensation $1,106,250

Change in Pension Value and Deferred Compensation Earnings $14,423

All Other Compensation $81,718

Total $4,410,699

In 2016, Mr T made 117 times the average rank-and-file worker’s pay

This information is from the AFL-CIO Executive Paywatch site. I believe it is a good example of what corporate America has become. Reward poor performance of the CEO's and force the common worker to suffer the consequences. I wouldn't really care if I got the boot from Windstream if I had his Golden Parachute like the executive branch of the company does. Things are far far worse than they seem in this company. I work in an ILEC area. Our main source of business is residential voice & dsl. The new "Re-branding" doesn't address anything for us. I understand the importance of developing the areas of business that Windstream is focused on, but as usual the everyday customer has been forgotten. They seem to have forgotten that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result.

Hey the re-branding is getting "rave reviews from internal and external customer".......didn't you read Tony's comment to the announcement on stream? It was posted just a couple of hours after it was announced so surely you're buying into it. After all Tony said so.

I hate it for the minion/butt kissers but I'm not drinking the kool aid. I know Tony and his cronies have destroyed the service we used to provide our customers. All in the name of the compliance report generated from ETA.

You forgot to mention the re-branding campaign that cost millions. It’s going to keep the ship from sinking in 2018.

I'm sure that we could outsource Tony's job and save $2.8 million a year. Pretty sure the job performance would improve too. :)

The board and it's members make approximately $6 to 8 million depending on what compensation numbers you use. If we can outsource the board to the phillipens or India we will realize instant cost savings. This will save approximately 100 jobs. Who is with me to approach the board with this idea.
