Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

WHAT NEXT ?

With layoffs around the horizon with or without acquisition (NXP/BRC), stability in semiconductor industry is a far fetched dream. I do believe nothing lasts forever but makes me wonder what companies are going to be stable at least in the near future (next 5 years). My take: Intel, Apple, Samsung and Nvidia in that order. Any thoughts ?

Companies are now realizing that there's nothing mystical about an IC. They can license the design from ARM and send it off to fabs. Tesla makes no money yet are making their own AI chip. My guess that eventually Nvidia will need to play to small guys. Intel always seems to make it out alive

As a stockholder I've endured far too many 'next big things'. I'll take $82 for my meagre holdings.

Mediaflo...........Zeroth........Mirasol.......Qthis, Qthat

Perhaps it better for small high energy start ups to develop 'the next best thing' - who at the right point in time get bought out.

Yes QC is investing in data center space but not much is going to happen - seems like our Exec's keep falling on their face. Mirasol etc it's always the next big thing that never becomes the next big thing because our Exec's rest on their laurels.

GOOG probably yes. APPL maybe. They are not selling enough IPhone 8 and X which is why they need to renegotiate licensing agreements with QCOM to sequeeze out more profit.

NVidia is an interesting case though but TSLA announced its own autopilot hardware chip design.

I really hope QCOM bites into INTEL datacenter market share if (a big one) QCOM bosses continue investing in datacenter

Probably APPL or GOOGLE would be more stable.
