Store scanners

Out of curiosity what in the hell do the store scanners do (the ones that do all the pricing)

It seems like ours just sits around all day.

I always scanned and hung tags while I was SSS. It all depends on the store you are in I have worked with TL and STLS that do nothing.

If your SSS sits around all day, then they should have plenty of time to tell you themselves what they do. Try talking to your fellow TM. You might just learn that they are just and bitter and overworked as you are.

Old school and common sense thinking is what made WFM a great company. It was fun and guests were awe struck when they walked in to any store. They loved the experience they had. They spent hours in the store having a great time shopping and learning about products from knowledgeable team members. Then conscious capitalism and John Mackey were sidelined and a new attitude was launched. That's when the company began it's change; old school and common sense thinking was mot allowed. Every idea good or bad became a reality, money flowed like water and WFM began it's financial descent. Believe it, don't believe it, but I was there when it was an amazing company and I was proud to go to work every day. I watched with sadness the descent and left after it sold. Old school team members were carefully pushed out for the " new attitude" thinkers. Well where did those new ideas get you? I am glad I have the memories of the great company and the John Mackey Whole Foods Market he created.

Be an SSS. Go to any department. Start scanning for price checks. Immediately see wrong prices, missing tags, incorrect signs, underweight products, mis-picked products. Alert team. Get blank stares back. Take photos of products that coordinators forgot to enter into IRMA. Nobody gives a sh--. Team trainers just want an extra dollar. Constant cycle of low skill workers come in and out the door. Get fined by the state. Meanwhile computer illiterate low skill workers ask how to copy and paste and use a mouse. Conference calls tell us we are responsible for making sure all prices are correct. Get no respect. Repeat everyday.

I hang alot of tags in my store. I see nothing wrong with helping but I guess I'm just old school.

I never understood why the SSS does not help hang tags. I also do not know why GA's don't hang their own stuff either.

When TL asks what is wrong with their computer the SSS tells them to plug it in the wall.
