Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

What’s the global total percentage?

I was just reading IKN message again and it stated “These changes will have a direct impact on our global workforce, including less than 1% of our U.S. workforce”. I take this to mean there is a much greater impact outside of the U.S. I’m just curious to know what is the total percentage of employees being let go...anyone know?

There is a serious capability gap in some locations in PepsiCo US. I moved from the AMENA sector to work for Pepsi in the US 2 years ago, and most of the people in management positions (L10 & L11) in my location (Beverage Concentrate plant) wouldn't survive in a L7 role in any other country !! They don't think or act strategically at all and rely on a few functional experts (L7, L8 & L9) in the plant to do a reasonable job and keep them in their positions.

The division leadership in the Corporate office in Ireland don't realise (or rather don't care) that the management team in this location are totally incapable. Things have improved lately with a couple of plant directors from Frito Lay. However if this plant is an accurate representation of Pepsi in the US, many more people need to be replaced.

Funny I read in Journal News article a moment ago that a company spokesperson indicated that the Westchester layoffs account for 1% of global workforce and that they intend to increase their workforce by 10 thousand globally in 2018. So again, taking away American jobs ......I dont know if Indra realizes this but PepsiCo and its subsidiaries were built on AMERICAN workers backs! Google Journal News PepsiCo layoffs - you will see that Marsha Gordon, Business Council of Westchester president and CEO, mentioned this in the article!

1% fo the US workforce is pure b---s--- news "spin". Sure it may be 1% of the 110,000 US employees, but I've yet to hear of any frontline team members at the plants or frontline sales people in the field or truck drivers that have been let go. So if you look at all the layoffs as a percentage of "staff" or management jobs, it's substantially higher. I'd guess it's probably closer to 10% of that population. Indra is just trying to put a good spin on it so the company doesn't look like sh--.

I’m thinking more of 1% US and 7% others. There have already been rumors of 8% globally.

And you trust Indra? As another poster put it could be 0.99% US and the rest outside.
