Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

The day my number came up

I knew there were massive layoffs in retail, but I didn't care because I'm not in retail.

I heard there were layoffs in auto manufacturing, but I don't care because I'm not in auto manufacturing.

I knew people in the medical industry were losing their jobs, but I don't care because I'm not in the medical industry.

And I even knew people at Coca Cola were being laid off, but why should I care? I don't work for Coca Cola.

Then my number came up, and I was laid off.

Now, who will care that I am unemployed?

Answer: For a week, your still employed peers will show compassion, then you will be forgotten and they will do anything to keep their jobs, including shut up about what's going on at Pepsi.

Welcome to the quiet collapse of America. Whether you believe it or not, you just joined it.

They didn’t say 1% of the global workforce. They said 1% of the US workforce, primarily coming from corporate. The total number will be much bigger than 1% globally. The 8,000 job estimate may be a realistic total.

1% of the global workforce. But if you are in IT it's closer to 10%...

keep in mind this is 1% of pepsico - so really, most people do not care or do not know about this
