Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

I was escorted out

I was one of those that was escorted out. I asked why, no answer could be provided other than: this was a very difficult decision. always was considered a top performer and brought the teams i worked with over the finish line in high rankings year after year. Given the decision to chop people at this tough time in our markets, i feel the company did a lousy job of recognizing any of these individuals for their contributions to the business over many years of service, in some cases over 30.

For some, it is going to be very tough to prepare for retirment now. i am 10 years away and feel it will be a hard road. A very tough pill to swallow given we have been building our business to drive sustainability and give our teams that sence of security we all need in our lives today by ensuring job security for the future. Rather than pick off some of the companies best assets, maybe they should have offered some folks a shot at early retirement if they were close.

i feel for many left behind in this restructuring, as it will be a big hill to climb with many more responsabilities on their plates.

Good luck to all, and may this type of "Thank You for your Loyalty" - "Leave Now" get recognized as a "WHAT NOT TO DO" to those who helped build this business over the years.

Way to Go Pepsico, or should i just send an eButton?

I was the one escorted out and after many years my dear friends it is not an easy feeling leaving something that you believed in so much. I gave the organization my life AND my families life for many years. Doing everything possible to show and preach worklife balance and we are driving balanced growth and ensuring we all have job security.

Hate to sound negative to the poor guy who works 85 hrs per week, but "really"? Is that healthy or is just that you get paid so little by this giant that you work those hours. Sorry but I will call you on that one. And if you do, well.........I am sorry for your horrible situation. And shame on you and anyone else who has the nerve to say the people let go were making so much money, and have so much saved they deserve it? You got a $1000 bonus for what?? To keep you happy for the rest of your career?

I will say however, good for you, and everyone else who gets this bonus, because the frontline deserves this type of bonus every Quarter for the work they do to keep this business going.

I wish I made the type of money you talk about, I was a manager for a long time, and the hours put in are countless, but the pride I had in my team was worth more than the money I was paid, because I believed in our future, and now feel betrayed by the same people who once praised me for the work I did. Yes I am angry with how this all came down and no, I am not going to sulk about it, but I will have a very different attitude when people ask me about the business I gave more than half my life to.

When you talk about recognition going forward, it will be recognizing the mistakes this business made on this date. Trust me when I say to those left behind, the future is grim, hold on tight, because the ride is going to be rough.

One more time.....W2G Indra! And Hi5 Pepsico! To the shareholders, sell, sell, sell. We just gave a handful of employees $1,000 bonuses. Think about it......maybe we are the lucky ones.

Wow, you were escorted out? I was laid off and was at least treated with some dignity. The whole process hurt and i am still trying to cope. Was given the time i needed to clean up, say my good byes, and leave when i wanted to. It is sad that people needed to be escorted out like a prisoner.

Hvz you are an idiot

You have no idea what you are talking about

It is difficult to save enough for retirement

Even with a small pension

Pension grows highest from 55-62 years which is why this age group gets cut

I am so sorry for you and everyone else that is caught in this crossfire. Why could concessions not be made where a small cut in pay across the board be an option and No one receives a pink slip? Many good people let go this week.

Have fun working 85 hours a week while most in corporate will move on to better opportunities. They will still max out 401k with much higher pay than you. You are brainwashed to think 85 hours a week as a grunt is something to be proud of. Take your pathetic bonus though.

I’m a full time merchandiser who works 85 hrs per week cashing in on double time, overtime and maxing out my 401K and I also have a union pension. I make more than our operation manager and sales managers.

Pepsico is an incredible company if you’re a hard worker on the frontline . My boss told me the closer you’re to the street the safer you are. To all the people laid off, Thanks for getting laid off, I will take the $1000 bonus and feed my family steaks. Going to go play with my kids who are happy to have a roof that is paid for over their head.

I hope each of the unemployed find a job that pays them in equal value to the contribution they will bring to a future organization.

I’ve been paid for the job I’ve done every day since I started. Good luck

I have 33 years with PepsiCo, work in Corp and have about 400K in my 401K - it took me many years of savings to build that nest egg and at 61 it's not enough to retire comfortably.

DO NOT MAKE ASSUMPTIONS that everyone in Corp is rich and a millionaire.

Most people are hard working and struggling to raise children

I agree people need to stop assuming that if you have a number of years at PepsiCo you have a huge pension. It is so not true. If you are not in management and just a lowly little admin or support person you don't get the extra bump they get and then once you become a banded manager you get even more perks. There has never been bonuses, very little recognition and more work than anyone can do for the majority of the support staff at PepsiCo.

I have been with the company almost 30 years and I don't have millions of anything. It's not always a given if you don't come from the corporate side of the house. Don't make such assumptions!!

If you've been around for 30 years you probably have millions in pension and stock, and you've been making 6 figures for a while. Consider anyone coming in today that doesn't get any of that AND is subject to the current climate.

Adjust your lifestyle..lose the 6000 sq ft mansion and BMW 7 series and you'll be just fine.
