Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

How many over 50?

It looks like age was the main determining factor in these layoffs.

Oh, I am sure there were just enough 20+ and 30+ employees to avoid age discrimination suit, but on the whole, this looks like a cleansing of the old guard.

Really sad to see the most loyal employees treated this way...

Note: Pensions are sometimes paid out in as a lump sum during a layoff process.

Let’s not blame this all on the “White, condescending, male-dominated management team.” Save some blame for the woman at the top, please. It would probably help if she liked any of our products.

No. A few junior people were let go, level or age were not the only consideration.

BINGO - Purging the expense of pension eligible employees!! Its purely a financial restructuring because senior leadership has failed to generate profitable sustained growth. And who gets penalized, the rank and file.

Can't wait to see what the White, condescending, Male-dominated management team comes up with next. Oh wait, Doritos Blast will save them. What a horrible product, cant believe it went to market. Mark your calendars and see if its still around a year from now.

Anon from HR here. Anyone over 30 these days is called "prime time" for a reason. We are looking for cost savings and we can't carry around dead weight anymore. Just putting that out there for the older folks, but hey the economy is still good for you and you will find a job down the line....

Many tenured employees don't have skills needed in modern business practices and many more don't even work just spend their days at the office waiting for pay out

It's because it's hard to screw over people that's of that age. I can't go into detail, but it's even bigger than you think.
