Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Do we still get health insurance?

What happens to our health insurance if we are laid off? Does it go away immediately or do we have at least some kind of coverage for at least a while?

Frankly, this is one of the things that scares me the most, as I can't afford to lose my coverage, as flawed as it is. Hopefully they give us at least a couple of months on it?

"The plan administrator must then send an election notice for COBRA within 14 days. You then have 60 days to decide whether to choose COBRA continuation coverage, and after electing coverage, you have 45 days to pay the initial premium"

Basically you can wait 60 days before signing up for COBRA. If you get new job before then, never sign up. If still unemployed, sign up but wait 45 days to pay premium.

Sort of like getting 105 days of emergency coverage without cost.

If you are let go in a restructuring, you have insurance the full amt of your severance package...then Cobra begins.

I think under COBRA you get to carry your Pepsico insurance for a year or 18 months, BUT, you have to pay the full cost of it
