Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

How bad is corporate looking?

Please stay out of this conversation if you are going to start nonsense about fake posters and all that. This is a serious subject.

How many folks were lost today? I know IT and Accounting will remain. How many jobs does that save?

Hey 30 years from Cabelas guy,

Why don't you have some of your family members read your posts. Maybe your wife, kids or inlaws. Don't tell them that you wrote them. Just tell them that you want them to read a bunch of posts and let you know what they think.

I'm serious. See what they say.

I agree with the last poster just ridiculous! The lack of intelligence on this thread is astounding. News Flash people...company has been sold, jobs have been lost, more jobs will still be lost (here’s looking at you Sidney) so get over it. Life isn’t fair!

I personally don't have a dog in this fight; but I can't believe what I'm reading. Is this honestly the intelligence of Cabela employees? Now I know why this company went in the gutter. Inept employees perhaps. Someone is definitely living in Peter Pan land. While you're at it call Trump, maybe he can lend you some advice. He might even donate some money to your GoFundMe account.

Do you think the stockholder would have approved a very small severance package to the 30 thousand employees and not just the huge huge huge huge huge severance package to the directors if one would have been part of the sales to bass pro?

I do remember somewhere in your past rants you claiming you were/are a 30 year employee of cabelas ................................

Having trouble keeping track of your stories now?

How does that help anyone?

I think the stockholders would have voted to approve a severance package to the employees if it met getting 61.35 instead of 61.50 per share as an example.

If my manager suggested that I donate 1% of my salary, I would have suggested that he donates 100% of his and let's call it good.

You just keep getting wackier.

So now you suggest we use a time machine to get 61.38 per share and then give the rest to the laid off employees.

That's over! That's the past. You can;t go back. You are the one telling everyone that we can stop the layoffs (today). HOW? Everything you say is nuts.

I was speaking of the employee foundation set up I assume by the directors to deal with financial hardships ( I was one employee who suggested a foundation like this before it was set up). My manager suggested to the group perhaps you could donate 1 percent of your wage a year. I used this as an example If I as an employee making 20 thousand and I can afford 1 percent can a director or stock holder perhaps with 20 million can they afford 2/10 of one percent?

I did state your opinion right in if the directors would have asked for a severance package of say between 10 and 20 cents per share for the other 30 thousand employees and faced with a decision of getting perhaps 61.35 instead of 61.50 . The stockholders would have said what are you smoking or what reality do you live their is no way I am going to take 61.35 deals off.

I am sick and tired OF THIS sh--. I never said I was at the distribution center for thirty years. I HAVE NOT BEEN AT THE DISTRUBUTION FOR THIRTY YEARS.

I am living in this reality. Tommy milliner and the directors are paid not to represent themselves but to represent the employees of Cabela's and the stockholders. This company was founded by D--k Cabela and every day for probably a year at work the first thing I saw when I walked into the building was D--k Cabela stating the key to success in his business was treating his employees and his customers right AND EVERYTHING ELSE WOULD FAR INTO PLACE.AT the final stockholder meeting their were three things discussed. A. the sales price 61,50 dollars a share. b. the severance package paid to the directors of around 25 million dollars. 3 . the auditing company. I think a fourth amendment could have been added of a severance package of let say 10 million to cover the other 30 thousand employees . I believe the stockholder would have approved this amendment overwhelming, Meanwhile you believe the stockholder would have said faced with getting 61.38 compared with the employees severance package or 61.50 without this employee severance package mentioned . The stockholders would have said " what reality are you living in I do not want to give the employees nothing. deal is off"

(A SMALL SMALL SMALL SMALL SMALL SMALL SMALL SMALL SMALL SMALL SMALL SMALL SMALL SMALL SMALL PERCENTAGE OF THE PROCEEDS OF THE SALE TO GO TO A FUND TO HELP EMPLOYEES)

Did you not know all the proceeds have been given out to the ten of thousands of stockholders. The money is gone. Do you have all there names and addresses to ask them contribute. Johnny tried to make the E team feel bad and that didn't work....and the Cabela's family is certainly not cracking opening their vault.

Also I'd be careful about suggesting a lawsuit against the company that you work for. I'm pretty sure that's not allowed by HR. Just sayin

Someone making $20K per year are not going to give money to people laid off (many making $60-$80K)

Also there are no shareholders to ask for 2/5 of percent of whatever. I know you mean well but these are silly ideas.

I would hope they would care. My manager should before the entire staff and asked employees some probably making around twenty thousand to contribute 1 percent of their wage to the employee foundation set up to help employee with financial emergency and I think asking perhaps stock holder to contribute let say 2/10 of a percentage to employees who were laid off would be fair.

To have those contribute to a fund to assist with those displaced surely you just, really do you think those with ho profited from this actually care for those whom they profited from

The whole State of Nebraska. I did not know that Cabela's was the main life Blood of the Nebraska economy.

This isn't a company located in Sidney who got potentially one and a half million dollars and may employ 50 employees in five years by the city and the state. This is a 10 billion dollar company which upward of 50 thousand employees and if perhaps the state of Nebraska the city of Sidney work with bass pro perhaps steps could be taken to save the lifeline of Sidney Nebraska and really the whole state of Nebraska.

Post ID: @1ttw+RIYWONx

To start with we can perhaps have some kind of plan to ask the directors and ex Cabela's stock holders for some assistance during this difficult time. The mayor of Sidney and owner of bass pro already has stated their opinion on this. If this doesn't work maybe a state investigation into the Cabela's deal to see if the employees of Cabela's were treated fairly. However the only ones who end up winning in this situation are the lawyers. I would much more support a token donation OF A SMALL SMALL SMALL SMALL SMALL SMALL SMALL SMALL SMALL SMALL SMALL SMALL SMALL SMALL SMALL PERCENTAGE OF THE PROCEEDS OF THE SALE TO GO TO A FUND TO HELP EMPLOYEES WHO MAY SUFFER FROM THIS TRANSACTION. THIS IS ONE SUGGESTION. I WOULD FAVOR THIS OVER A HUGE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OR A STATE INVESTIGATION OF THE CONDUCT OF CABELAS MANAGMENT IN THIS MERGER AGREEMENT.

from the OP: "How bad is corporate looking?" Like a typical bad hair day in the corp parking lot. "How many folks were lost today?" guessing from the replies, more than yesterday. "I know IT and Accounting will remain. How many jobs does that save?" the article said ~125 IT and a few accounting = fuzzy math - a few more than 125

+1 ...that was sarcasm too.

"join with me in exploring steps to try and prevent more layoffs"

Alright Einstein...what do you suggest? I'm serious...what if we ask Johnny...and say pretty please.

Or what if everyone locks themselves in the building and refuses to get laid off.

Or maybe just go to you manager and say " if you lay anybody else off I'm gonna quit!"

What color is the sky in your world?

Honestly to the poster who stated someone blood pressure is a very relevant issue in this discussion of a 10 billion dollar company with 50 thousand employees. Why is this a relevant issue in this discussion? Also this question also goes out to the two posters who agreed with this poster. Although I find it hard to believe this poster wasn’t pretending someone else.

What in the hell does someone blood pressure has to with a discussion of the business details of a 10 million dollar company with close to 50 thousand employees.i posted several very reasonable points suggestions to improve the situation. Your response was like a spoiled kid . First the bs with the blood pressure. Then like a little kid no Sidney has no say in any thing because I say so. You need to stay off this serious trend.

Listen to this bs the moderators can be brutal. Lol . Yes they can at times if you post honest statements with the intent to improve a troubling time with Cabelas and Sidney. However if you are a Cabelas hater you can post lies pretend to be other posters. This latest bs he is insulting someone for there blood pressure. Then this poster has the nerve to say it is very relevant to the Cabelas situation.Of course a minute later someone agreed with him. This site is a total joke the Cabelas hater simply analyze the situation and post the worst case scenario he can think of for Cabelas. The Cabelas hater I think is getting a new low for him stating someone blood pressure is a very important subject to this situation.Who knows the negative effect this poster has had on the town of Sidney.

I think his or her point was that you can not control how many Cabela's job remain in Sidney. Which he's 100% correct in.

You did not address or rebutt the point. You just ranted and raved, about "what did you smoke/" Not very a useful way to advance your side of an argument.
