Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

How do they do it (layoffs)? A phone call? Meeting with HR?

Please chime in - how does the actual act of communicating that you've been laid off happen?

Do they call you in a conference room?

Who is there?

What do they tell you?

How long does it take.

I am a fairly anxious person and knowing things in advance helps. I am sure that I am not the only one wired like this.

When I was severed from PepsiCo ~ got a call from my boss to go to a conf room ~ My boss, his boss & HR were in the room ~ I was given a folder that had my salary (double check to make sure it is correct bc mine was wrong) if your salary is NOT ACCURATE tell them immediately (mine was readjusted). The folder has a letter from HR detailing your severance. That folder also has a listing off all employees who were also let go ~ no names, just title, age, & location. I was then followed to my desk got my personal belongs and left for the day. I came back later ( a few days) to clean out my desk.

@RI7spJm-eps You’re probably a douche. Not sure anyone so relaxed would even be looking at this site.

Similar to @RI7spJm-fvp, I’ve heard that it’s HR and a manager that is 2-3 levels above you who tells you that you’ve been let go. Your direct manager is told at the same time you are told, or even after you are told. You are then escorted to a separate conference room where HR (often a post-placement consultant, not necessarily a PEP HR employee) walks you through severance, COBRA, etc.

I’ve never heard about this happening with a manager in the room. I lost two people in 2012 and didn’t find out until later in the day. At that time you were approached at your cube, escorted to a conference room or office and things were explained. Personal belongings were packed by an admin later and shipped to your home. Maybe that part will be different this time if there are a large number of people. Maybe the Friday pack up plan will happen. Best of luck to everyone tomorrow.

it's simple - they will call you into a conf room where hr will wait for you with your manager.

they tell you immediately that you are dead meat and they start giving gifts.

they tell you all nice things they will do for you going forward, will pay the severance, will give you COBRA, etc.

it's very brief, there is no negotiation.

they will walk you to your desk, you pack up and leave. if you have more stuff than you can carry they will FedEx that to you.

once you are done with packing, they will escort you out.

formatting (not my post - i stole it from B&N):

To quote and indent, use > at the start of a paragraph you wish to quote

to refer to a post just enter a post id (for this thread you can be like @RI7spJm )

to refer to a user use the last three characters of his post id - for example - @dpc

if you use one or two * before AND after the word you get bold or italic, something like this - there was a post on this cannot find it now

100% accurate

You are called into a conference room where you are met by an HR rep, a manager, a box of tissues, and possibly cake!?. They explain the terms of your severance, you can accept and sign on the dotted line, or you may have some time to think about it. You are then escorted to your desk by security to gather your belongings or they are shipped to you. You turn in your computer, badge, and any other items they request. You get escorted out the building.

Pretty sure they come fetch you at your cubicle. Greeted by HR typically and sometimes your boss. Security will allow you to gather your personal items like purse, coat, etc then walk you to your car. I understand that (at least FLHQ) will be closed on Friday (maybe afternoon only) to allow people to come back and get the rest.

My plan: no coffee in the morning and a nice Xanax in the morning.
