I was wondering, for how much longer will our employee discounts be valid? Does anyone know?

Oh sweetie, don't worry about the employee discount. I have a life time discount as a retiree and I have never used it! I always get my books from Amazon because it is cheaper and faster. I sure as heck am not going to drive 30 mins. just so I can save less money than at Amazon.
It's unfortunate that it had to go down in such a way, but BN is really behind on trying to update their business model. These positions should have been slowly left vacant over the course of a few years instead of all just cut right now. Had they started that policy in, say, 2012, the end result would have been the same, but with employees having moved into other positions, been promoted, or left voluntarily for any number of positive reasons. In fact, the company would have probably saved more money not having full time Lead positions totally full from that point to now than by just straight up laying everyone off.
Bad form.
My manager told me that it’ll be good at least through the end of the week that you’re being paid.
I actually feel bad for the employees that are left there. I was planning on retiring in the summer so at least now I can collect for awhile. My manager was actually very good to me. She never gave me a hard time about anything . I'm sure the receiving area is already a mess after one day though. They didn't have any hours to shelve, how are they going to receive and sort without hours ?
Hell No! Not after being laid off without any notice! It's sad that the company does not value its employees. I've been there for years! But I guess Barnes and Noble doesn't care about loyalty or dedication.
You would really buy something from them after what they just did to everyone ?
