Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Any thoughts on Dr Paul and Mr. Hock Tan letters

Read the letter from Dr Paul. It looks like a fresh engineer writing a letter ( with a attitude) and attempting to throw random questions to make the presence felt!

Read the letter from Mr Hock Tan, which appears to be highly polished ,diplomatic,on the dot and pressing to close on this "email thread" by COB right now !

The exchange is better Chairman and CEO. Where is SM (CEO still ? ), who has done nothing for the past many years except polished dance and talk.

Move the meeting the Qualcomm way , ha!

I believe people below the VP/director level need to be involved for making the call, not just SM and friends/family. Voting is not enough. IQ of most engineers are way better than someone up the ladder. Agree ?

These guys neither innovate or run business. Innovation should be a company wide effort. this would mean its time to evaluate the upper management on their performance. so called rest and vesting ?

Not sure of titles structure, but can start from Director ( + equivalent) and above to take this company to the next level. Current management , perhaps didn't do it. Is HR really bold to have proper , effective, efficient , unbiased , fair performance evaluations from top to bottom ?

Hawk can perhaps do it and help the company shire again.

AVGO is in technology & business as Qualcomm. No doubt, Qualcomm is a good tech company. Qualcomm under SM and PJ leadership bought many technology companies, attempted many technologies but unclear if they integrated and made business out of those companies i.e. have not seen a compelling success story.

Hawk seems to have a good track record of making business out of tech companies & tech out of tech companies. Qualcomm and AVGO seem to be complement each other well i.e AVGO / QCOM deal is good for business and technology going forward. Hawk is seriously paying ~50% premium from the day he announced the buy when the stock was nosing downwards at around 55.

Shouldn't these (Qualcomm) guys be working overtime without pay to seal the deal with proper justification/s ?

I am hope after the meeting, AVGO should not come back and revert to $70 , stating $70 is good enough with new data point blabbered during the meeting.

Are these guys there just because of family and friends deal or are they truly intelligent but without business experience ?

Brroadcomm has this presentation :

Why is Qualcomm not putting a similar one if they have what it takes to refute. Very poor response time from Qualcomm.

OR the assistant who creates the power point is NFW and SM/PJ are still figuring out how to boot their laptops.

It’s well below what common sense dictates considering our pretend $7.50 EPS. What’s your real price bruh

Paul says - “Your proposal is inferior relative to our prospects as an independent company and is significantly below both trading and transaction multiples in our sector,”

As a company( exclude the NXP drama), there seems to be nothing great happening or happened in the past 5+ years other than harping about CDMA/LTE with a broken instrument ( wasnt Sanjay and Murthy the key guys around LTE/4G then etc. ?).

If the above statement from Paul is true ( which it it) and he is realizing now, that itself is good enough for him and upper management to be replaced by a better qualified management. The management should be penalized appropriately.

This WILL require seriously big changes and mega restructuring (not the one SM did when Jana partners was around, in fact looking back he did nothing) as simple as that!
