Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Pepsi/tropicana

Have heard pepsi is beginning to carry tropicana products on their trucks soon. Are they planning on ending the tropicana dsd side of the business?

About half of the Tropicana Independent Operator route trucks in NY/NJ do not use the refer units that are on their trucks. Too costly to operate/maintain. State inspectors would have a field day in July and August. Not sure why management looks the other way.

Pepsi has been doing this in Florida for the last 6 years. It's a total failure. Most of the large accounts now have to get Tropicana and Naked through Direct shipments. Also Pepsi lost most of the food service accounts Tropicana had for years. Pepsi has admitted they failed and is asking Tropicana DSD to come back to Florida.

They've been trying to accomplish this for years but inept leadership can't understand that with the constant massive cuts and IT outsourcing to Indian consulting companies, along with braindead senior management, they will never be able to put the systems in place to accomplish this. Watch as we get left behind where we should have come out ahead through the power of one initiatives.

Is this happening in the ny/nj area? I believe the dsd division is ran by independent operators.....

I've seen cold vaults installed in side loaders with many more in the warehouse waiting to be installed.

Frito Lay stuff stinks? Ar you serious? It is the most profitable part of the company and keeping Pepsi a float. Last time I checked bottled water is the number one selling beverage. Good luck competing in that crowded market with Aquafina

Ok, ,have heard about those....the warehouses need to be fitted for coolers to house all the chilled items which is extensive. As for those cold vaults i heard the opposite that they don’t maintain temp in hot climates . Regardless it looks as if dsd will be absorbed into the pepsi.

Trucks are not refrigerated, they carry “UCV”, universal cold vaults in one of the bays to keep the product nice and chilly ;-). Saw one last week.

So are the warhouses refrigerated for these items. I have heard pepsi has been experimental with these in warm climates and it hasnt worked very well. A lot of product loss.

There are multiple locations that do this. Florida, Texas, California, Florida, and Michigan to name a few. We use a universal cold Vault cooler that goes into the bay. It’s a great process and saves the company money. I could see all Trop DSD going to it very soon.

Pepsi trucks are not refrigerated...can they be made to? Of course...so how can they distribute persishable products on non refrigerated trucks currently.as is where none are equipped. Are there warehouses now equipped with coolers inside for kevita sabra trop pure premium?

As they should. We’re either PepsiCo or not. Frito’s stuff stinks (contrary to what they think) and should be integrated with rest of foods.
